The Earth will not stop spinning.  If it did, we would lose gravity.

         steve,
i need to know more about would it effect tides, eclipses and seasons? please tell me
margot!

Answer
Well, the problem is, is that since the Earth will not stop spinning, it is hard to really answer.  If we stop spinning, we will lose gravity, so the water would then "float" off of the Earth.  Eclipses would take place, but only the side of the planet facing the eclipse would see it.  As far as seasons, Only one side of the Earth at one time would have seasons; I THINK!
