Question
Hi again steve. What two bright stars are near the ecliptic in the south!!
This depends upon the time.
Here in the Northeast, the constellation of Orion is near the Ecliptic, and there are many bright stars in that Constellation such as Betelgeuse and Rigel. Could also be Aldebaran in Taurus.
I would need to know your location and time of observing.

Experience in the area. I have been an amateur astronomer for 47 years, and have been teachng space science in planetariums for 34 years. I have been awarded the "Fellows" award from the International Planetarium Society for more than 20 years of continuous service in the planetarium field.
