Astronomy/sundials

Question
Hi Jayendra,
We talked about a week ago about sundials and I havn't given up on making an accurate one but I understand it will be hard to do that because of my location. I live in Maine and that is on the edge of the Eastern Time Zone. Does that have an effect on making my sundial?
My gnomon is cut to 45 degrees and my hours are marked off in 15 degrees but this isn't working very well, and really, it doesn't keep time very close.
Is it possible for me to set my sundial out pointing to true north and make my hour lines on the sundial where ever the shadow falls exactly on each hour?
And, if this is possible, will the shadow stay constant or will the time keep changing as summer comes and the sun keeps getting higher in the sky?
 Thanks for any more information.
 Dennis

Answer
Hi Dennis,
I am sorry to say i cant really help you more than i already have on this subject.

You could try out the other experts on this site, who no doubt will be of great assisstance on the subject,
Chiefly, as they also might throw up some more stuff than i already have.

(Nothing like diversifying ones sources of info).

Sundials seem to be my weak spot! :)
Hope you do not mind.

Sorry once again,
regards and best of luck..
Jayen
