Could you tell me in layman's terms what a white hole is?

In layman's terms,
1 - A white whole was earlier thought to be the "other end
   of the connecting tube thru time, of a black hole!
   People imagined that matter entering a black
   hole, "fell thru the singularity" back into this
   universe, but transported into another era of time.
   [this transmission was ofcourse like passing thru a
   meat grinder! no object would be intact, but would be
   pulverised to its atomic level].
2 - However current knowledge says the so called white
   holes which were thought to be the distant quasars,
   are actually exploding young galaxies!
   Because of the enormous distance they are located, we
   see them "as they were 10 billion years ago".
   But as THAT was the time when the first spiral
   galaxies were forming, we can presume the quasars to be
   nothing but theses exploding new proto galaxies.
THAT happens to be my knowledge as per my latest readings on the subject.
