Astrophysics - boundry of universe

Expert: Philip A. Stahl - 8/4/2009

Question
sir,
what does latest research guide on the subject i mentioned above?
is there any boundry of universe?

Answer
Hello,

There is no firm answer yet to whether the universe has a "boundary". This is because more cosmological tests need to be made. It also means that different quantum gravity models need to be examined in more detail.

These issues are far more complex than a simple answer would allow, so I suggest trying to get hold of the following to read and learn more:

1) Stephen Hawking's book, 'A Brief History of Time', chapter 8, 'The Origin and Fate of the Universe', in which he goes into his "no boundary" proposal for the cosmos.

2)ASTRONOMY magazine, April 2009, with feature article 'Why the Universe had no Beginning' (p. 28)

3) ASTRONOMY magazine, June 2009, with feature article 'HOW we could see Another Universe', p. 24

4) ASTRONOMY magazine, May 2007, feature article, 'Cosmology's 5 Big Things You Need to Know'.

I believe if you consult all these you will get a much better idea of the boundary concept (as it applies to the universe) and how it might be approached than anything I could give you in even 1 mb.
