I certainly can't speak for all atheists, so please be aware that my responses pertain only to my own point of view.

Regarding a soul... simple answer.  It's not a term I apply any meaning to.  I understand what most people mean when they say it, but it's not a definition that I put any stock in.  "Soul" is a term I generally don't use.

As for birth and death... I'm not clear on what you mean when you ask if I can "define" these things.  Are you asking where we come from and what happens when we die?  Or did you mean something else?
