Atheism/Creation

Question
Dear Vincent,

How is creation explained in atheism? Also is it assumed that consciousness originated from inert objects.

Thanks,
Raja

Answer
Raja:

I'm afraid you've misunderstood something very basic about atheism.  It is not a set of beliefs.  It does not "explain" anything.  That is not the "purpose" of atheism.

Atheism is nothing more than a REJECTION of a theistic belief system.  That's it.  It does not suppose anything about how consciousness or anything else came into being.

In short, atheism is not a label for what a person believes... but rather, what a person does not believe.
