Atheism/The operation of atheism

Question
How does atheism operate in the realm of human purposes, meanings and values?

Answer
Well, that's the thing, Charles.  It doesn't.

Remember, atheism is a description of what a person does NOT believe. It is not in any way about what a person DOES believe.

That being said, the majority of atheists I've known have essentially been humanists at heart, whether or not they consciously attached that label to themselves.  So if you're familiar with humanism, you're most likely familiar with the beliefs of a good many atheists.

Hope that's helpful.
