Hello,

I think I've found a reason that proves the existance of God but noone seems willing to comment.  Could you please tell me if you can see anything wrong with this:

I found a reason that proves the existance of
G-d, the existance of choice.  For choice to truly be choice choice must have chosen to be.
The only way for that to happen would be for one with the ability to do anything to allow
choice to choose its own existance.  God.  If any more than one were involved choice would
not be yes/no because choice would have been allowed by more than one thereby allowing more
than one choice ((yes/no) and maybe are a choice between certain and uncertain).

Kind Regards,
James

Hello James,
Since I've been an Atheist I've heard some pretty crazy statements by people trying to prove the existence of a God. I think if I had to choose I would say that yours is by far my choice for the craziest.

(You get an "A" for originality though)

Thanks Bob  :)
You're not the first to say that and you probably won't be the last but not too long ago it was considered crazy to think that the world wasn't flat.

Hi again James,
I hope that you do not imagine that your argument for the existence of a God is in the same league as your flat earth example. We choose because we find that more than one item meets the requirements for what we want.
I've heard just about the same argument using the fact that grass is green and not blue. "You see, there is a higher power because only a higher power would have been able to make the world as perfect as it is. As you can see, the grass is green and the sky is blue, and not the other way around."
Yes, that argument makes perfect since, but they, and I'm sure you, for that matter, would say the same thing if the grass WAS blue and the sky was green.

Hi Bob

I am not saying that my argument is in the same league as the flat earth disproval but if I'm accurate it is way beyond it.

The world is not perfect so I disagree with the argument that because the world is perfect God must exist.  There is however an opportunity for perfection by imperfecting imperfection and that is what proves God for me.

Without a reason that the sky being blue and the grass being green is perfect then the argument has no grounds.  I agree.  It is a ridiculous thing to say.

James

Hi James,
Regardless of the fact that I think your argument is ridiculous to the extreme, I have always felt that everyone has a right to believe whatever they choose. The last part of the second paragraph in your statement sums up the only important thing in our whole dialog, "and that is what proves God for me."  As long as that works for you, I guess that's all that really matters.

I was hoping to find a reason why I was either wrong or right.  Thanks anyway though Bob.

Answer
James,
I think that I've given you your reason why I feel that you are wrong. You are wrong because your argument not only is ridiculous but it makes no sense. If anything, it is as prime an argument for evolution that I have ever heard.
As I said before, I am glad that you have found something that you believe in. I really do find nothing sadder then someone that wonders through life without direction. Hang in there, and write back if you think of something better or when you realize that you are really just a closet atheist. (just kidding)

I can answer just about any question that you may have about Atheism itself, dealing with being an Atheist in a religous world, or theological, religion based questions concerning atheism.

Experience

I became an Atheist at the age of 15 and have remained so for the past 21 years. At that time I was the only Atheist that I had ever met so I spent the next several years researching most types of religion as well as the concept itself. I am not here to convert or argue, but just to help you find the path that is right for you.
