Atheism/dreaming of the dead

Question
Recently both my grandfather and my dog passed away. I am an atheist, and i had a dream about my dog last night. He died after going blind and deaf, but in my dream he was at his prime and was chewing a bone in our backyard. When he saw me he looked up and gave me a wag of his tail. Do you think it is possible that this may have been his way of saying goodbye? Or is it just my subconcious trying to deal with my loss?

Answer
Hello Stephanie,
Let me start off by saying that I am sorry for your loss. Granddads and dogs may be two of the best things in life and I hate to hear that you have lost both. Although I have seen a lot of unusual things and I don't even pretend to have all the answers I would say that you are right and  indeed your subconcious is trying to deal with this loss. If I were you I would just try to enjoy the dreams while they last and take heart the both are at peace.

I can answer just about any question that you may have about Atheism itself, dealing with being an Atheist in a religous world, or theological, religion based questions concerning atheism.

Experience

I became an Atheist at the age of 15 and have remained so for the past 21 years. At that time I was the only Atheist that I had ever met so I spent the next several years researching most types of religion as well as the concept itself. I am not here to convert or argue, but just to help you find the path that is right for you.
