Question
what in the secular view makes life sacred or special. when does a life stop or start becoming special.  following on from that does this mean that because life is (or not) special does that mean we should or shouldn't use euthanasia?

Answer
Hello Tommy,
Life is a biological process. We are born, we reproduce, we pay a hell of a lot of taxes, and then we die. I personally see life as special because it is really our only shot at being here. No afterlife, no heaven, no hell. You have one shot. As far as euthanasia, if you mean allowing the terminally ill to commit doctor assisted suicide than I am all for it. If, on the other hand you are talking about killing the mentally retarded than I, of course, am completely against it. I do not even think that we should execute the mentally retarded regardless of their crimes. Anyway, I hope this answers you questions.

I can answer just about any question that you may have about Atheism itself, dealing with being an Atheist in a religous world, or theological, religion based questions concerning atheism.

Experience

I became an Atheist at the age of 15 and have remained so for the past 21 years. At that time I was the only Atheist that I had ever met so I spent the next several years researching most types of religion as well as the concept itself. I am not here to convert or argue, but just to help you find the path that is right for you.
