Question
How do you deal with being an Atheist in an overwheming, intolerant religious world?

Answer
Hello Wayne,
Sorry for the delay.... Now to your question.
I deal with it the same way that people throughout history have dealt with religious persecution. I hold true to my beliefs and generally do not walk around wearing a jesus is dead T-shirt. I wondered as I read your question if you were just curious or if you are having similar problems. If you are I would just recommend that you take comfort in the fact that as an Atheist you have chosen to live a life guided be the truth as opposed to fantasy. At the same time I would strongly caution that you show people with different belief systems respect. I would not walk around with an Atheist banner but stand firm with your beliefs. Lastly do not compromise your beliefs to keep the peace. Respect others while at the same time letting them know that you deserve the same respect yourself. Most people will show that respect if they see that you are not following a different path out of rebellion but have taken the time to study your beliefs and are standing firm with them.
I hope this answers your question, if I can be of any further help please feel free to write again.

I can answer just about any question that you may have about Atheism itself, dealing with being an Atheist in a religous world, or theological, religion based questions concerning atheism.

Experience

I became an Atheist at the age of 15 and have remained so for the past 21 years. At that time I was the only Atheist that I had ever met so I spent the next several years researching most types of religion as well as the concept itself. I am not here to convert or argue, but just to help you find the path that is right for you.
