Question
Hello, I believe I have add. I used to go to middle school, but dropped out in the 8th grade at 16. I am now 18 and feel that I was cheated out of a proper education because I find myself unmotivated and unable to complete any task at hand.I have lost 2 jobs in the past 6 months because I became unmotivated. This situation makes life very complicated. I feel terrified of applying for another job because i might lose it. I have recently visited a neurologist for add testing. He wanted me sent for mri and psych school testing. Both were denied by my insurance company which leaves me in quiet a predicament. I am getting very frustrated that my problem is not being taken seriously. Is there someone else I should be bringing this problem to instead of a neurologist? If there is a list of add specialized doctors can I please have a list so i can contact them. I am looking for closest to zip code 08093. Also what are the chances of insurance companies paying for add testing? Sorry for rambling on. Any information would be much appreciated.

Answer
As I do not practice in America it would be of more value to
ask your family doctor or contact Chadd.com .As I have not examined you I cannot advise, only make comments. MRI, EEG and psychology are not needed to diagnose a neurological condition like ADD. Thus  I feel your insurance were  justified. As the examination is a medical one I am almost sure your medical insurance should cover the assessment but ask them to be sure. From your description I think you have ADHD/ADD.  Good luck
