Question
43 and just figured out i,m adhd. its explained my mucked up life. have obsessively been reading your answers and amazed that my doctor and assorted mental health pros hadnt thought of it-perhaps confused by chhronic alcohol abuse. coffee has always had the reverse effect on me- relaxing. my question relates to my high anxiety levels and hyper everything. will stimulants increase anxiety, and are some meds better relating to anxiety levels. i am extremely impressed with your answers, and have already learnt heeps!

Answer
Stimulants work by strongly  boosting the immature left brain's functions to a`higher level and offering a better balance between left and right brain. Coffee is a  mild stimulant thus it would have the same but weaker effect. Alcohol a sedative would have to opposite negative effect. Anxiety levels usually drop on correct medical treatment just as the hyperactivity will.
