Question
My daughter is 17, bright and very outgoing. She has been trying to get a part time job lately and all the companies require testing that seems to squelch her ability to get a job. She has documentation and accommodations.  How does that apply to job applications and not being discriminated against???  Especially when testing is not her strong suit.

Answer
Dear Sharon,

On the applications, there is usually an area that asks about disabilities and accommodations.  She should indicate that she has a disability and what it is, however many people suggest that you do not disclose a disability unless it is absolutely necessary.

I would look into  JAN - Jobs accommodation network (they can be found on the web), then visit the guidance counselor and your local Vocational rehab office.  Those are some places to start when the ADHD is getting in the way of a first job.

I hope that helps,

Many blessings to you.
