Question
Too many problems to list.  My 3 year old grandson is extremely hipper - over emotional - unamanageable outburst.  He was a serious head banger at age two.  He tires so hard to be good.  He can't focus and he will not listen or respond when called.  He sees no danger - he has ran away from daycare and ended up on a dangerous highway a mile away.  He has outburst and throws toys, chairs, ect. and is on the verge of being kicked out of YMCA.  He is very loving when his emotions are under contol.  His pediatrician put in on adderall .05mg 3 times a day.  He focused better for a while and slowed down a little, but he has ajusted to the dose and now is just as hipper and seems agitated.  He seems to have extreme mood swings and in his bad behavior he expresses inappropriote language - blurts out bad words or calls people butt-head or whatever is on his mind.  Life is very ruff........what can you suggest?

Answer
Dear Sue,
I really want to help you and spend some time with these issues.  I am changing computers and have to go right now.  Please hang in there until I can really address these issues.  Just to make you feel better, a lot of his behavior is perfectly normal with his personality traits.  There are things to look at.  Is his home chaotic?  Is there fighting going on?  Children react to what is happening.  Is there any chance of any abuse happening to him.  Out bursts of anger sometimes are reactions to this because of him feeling so helpless.

I also can recommend a product that feeds the brain and could really help in calming him down.  It is chewable, too and has worked wonders with kids.  Go to www.neurogenesis-inc.com/58357 to Life and Mind and get some as soon as possible and experiment with dosage.  It won't hurt because it is nutritional.

Then, I need to know more information before I can help you and might even be able to talk to you over the phone.  Please be patient with me for a few days.  I am switching to a much better system, etc. that will allow me to send my voice advice in files, etc.

Hang in there.  There are places to go for help.

Expertise

Behavior and learning challenges are usually caused by personality traits such as Restlessness, High Physical, Low Concentration, Wide Tolerance (spaciness), Force (anger), Aggressive, plus others. I can help in either area.

Experience

25 years experience working with families, teaching them how to work with traits so they work for you, rather than against you. As mother of seven grown children and grandmother of 19, I have seen first hand the beauty of recognizing talents and potential in a child who is difficult to raise. I could not have raised my last daughter, who had a very strong personality, without this knowledge. Besides working with families, I have worked with individuals and businesses. The challenges are always the same--learning how to work with your own traits, plus learning how to handle trait differences between yourselves and others.
