Question
I'm enquiring ABout adhd as my boyfriends daughter who is 6 yr old as just found out she got adhd she was giving ritalin but only 10mg, she doesn't like taking the tablets but her mum is trying her best but now the child is having fits, what will be the best for me to explain to my partner

Answer
Firstly, 10mg as a single  dose of  Ritalin only lasts   4 hours. When medication fades she is much worse. ADHD needs at least 12 hours on treatment a day. Often Epilepsy is linked to ADHD and anti-epileptic medication is first used to control the Epilepsy. An EEG is necessary.  Only thereafter is Ritalin introduced gradually increasing the dose until optimal and  lasting 12 hours. Tell her to get expert advice.
