Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)/Epilepsy

Question
Hi Doc. I have epilepsy and my G.P. Was reluctant to prescibe Ritalin for me. I do not know if you know of any other meds I could take. He seemed unwilling to help me. Thank you

Answer
Perhaps your GP is not an expert in ADHD but still a good GP.There is no reason whatsoever why Epilepsy and ADHD cannot  both be treated with Anti-epileptic medication and Ritalin together. First control the Epilepsy and then add on the Ritalin and  titrate the Ritalin to an optimal dose. Speak to your doctor or get another opinion. There is Strattera as an alternative but it is not as effective as Ritalin.
