Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)/MEDs

Question
I was recently diagnosed with adult ADHD. Prior to I had been on meds for depressions I was taking 40 mg of Prozac a day. The therapist said stop taking the Prozac and start the Vyvanse. What side effects would be possible from not tapering me off the prozac?

Answer
A good question. Firstly it would appear that the ADHD was missed as the cause of Depression.Treating the depression alone would not work. When the Vyvanese is working an antidepressant like Welbutrin might be also needed, but not Prozac. There will be no long term serious problems to not tapering off. Lastly why is a therapist and not a doctor advising you?
