Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)/A cure for ADHD
Expert: Dr Billy Levin - 9/6/2010
QuestionQUESTION: Dear Doctor. I recieved a pamphlet in the mail about nutrional healing.Omega 3's. Is it true that ADHD can be cured through correct nutrition? Also why in the past was it thought that ADHD only happened to children and did not continue into adulthood?
ANSWER: If you will afford me the privalage of being outspoken,I will comment but it is not my opinon. It is authentic medical research. Omega 3 has no value whatsoever and can never cure ADHD/ADD. Nutrition plays no part in ADHD except when it is so poor as to cause malnutrition. Ignorance in ADHD abounds. I lectured on the ADULT at a National conference in 1982. The British goverment only recognised adults officially with ADHD a few years ago. 81 fully recognised professors world wide, signed an official protest all objecting to false media publicatond about ADHD. Can they all be wrong? THe answerv to your question is nothing but ignorance unfortunately.

QUESTION: Unfortunately in life and especially in magazines and the internet there is lots of horrible stories about stimulant medication. As an ADD sufferer all my life and still being medicated, It is hard for me sometimes to accept that PERHAPS I might need to be on stimulants for a long time. The misinformation distorts ones mind so much that one eventually thinks the doctors are trying to kill us. No offence to you. I am sorry to be a pest but why does dopamine help with ADHD?
AnswerTHe brain uses Neurotransmitters to make various parts function just a Hydrochloric acid makes a car battery function. A chemical reaction. In certain parts of the brain the shortage of Dopamine is usually due to that part being immature and producing too little Dopamine need to fuction efficiently. Stimulant medication promotes dopamine production and prevents it stopping to work. THis is obviously an amaturish description of Synaptic activity betweem neurons.
