Question
Hello Doctor, my son is 6 and was diagnosed with ADHD.  The prescribed drug was originally 18mg, but after only a month the Educational Physiologist recommend we put him on 36mg.  Is this safe for such a young child?  Today is the second day of taking the stronger drug and is complaining of feeling sick.  Will this effect go away after a day or so?

Answer
You have stated 18mg but have not named the product. I could assume the name but this is not acceptable. Then you ask if 36mg is acceptable. THe dose is determined by a doctor , not a psychologist and is based on response, not age or weight of patient. There are spesific systems to monitor the optimal dose. It seems these are not being used.
