Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)/ADD

Question
My son has ADD.  He started taking meds when he was in third grade, he is now in his 2nd year of college. He is on 54mg of Concerta, will he always need medication and should he be re-tested

Answer
He may not need the medication all his life.  You should be checking in with the doctor at least annually.  Dosages sometimes need to change as people get larger, and often dosages can be reduced.

I would advise checking with his physician, if possible, try a period without the medication (probably at a time when he is on break from school).  If he finds that he can't concentrate as well, then you know it is still working.
