QuestionI have just started my first "real job" after graduating lawschool. I am having immese trouble finishing my work, filling out forms, I'm super careless and get distracted by everything. I have always been very smart, but I have tolerance for subjects that bore me. I never finish books, I start hobbies then drop them. I got amazing grades in college and at a top 10 lawschool, but I crammed for every test. Now that I'm at work, i'm having so much trouble. I put off my work until the last possible minute and I'm burned out because i'm here morning noon and night trying to get work done that should only take a few hours. I've tried lists, exercise, talking myself through things. I just don't know what to do about my motivation and concentration problems.
Thanks,
Meghan
AnswerFrom what you so aptly describe, I have no doubt you suffer from adult ADHD. I would strongly advise you see a medical doctor who has expert experience in adult ADHD with a view to going onto a trial of a stimulant medication like Ritalin. If the dose is built up to optimal levels you should be seeing improvements within about 2 weeks.
