Hi Kevin,
Tell me more. What kind of comprehension problem--memory, being distracted easily, concentration, or?
Are you physically restless? What do you do for a living? Are you athletic? Tell me about your physical activities.
I await your answer.
My difficulty with memory is that I have a hard time with concentration on any activity. I am fairly active. I enjoy being out doing many different things. I enjoy walking, hiking and go to the gym. But in school I was restless. Never a behavior problem. But I have been out of school for ten years and I have job jumped a lot. I currently work two part time jobs. One being at a supermarket and the other giving out parking tickets. When I was in college I Took a 3 hour test which showed me as having an IQ of 85 which is low average. but the area's of weakness for me were and are memory and reading comphrension. I would like to know how to improve in these area's. Techniques and are there any books you would recommand me to read.
thanks
kevin

Dear Kevin,
Sorry I am slow in answering. First of all I would like to tell you a little bit about personality traits. Each person is born with 60 traits. Some traits are stronger than others and our strong traits incline us to behave a certain way. Those traits are our gifts and also our challenges. This means that your weaknesses are also your gifts in other areas.
When a person is restless when trying to sit down this means that he is more suited to a job where he moves around. Your gift is not in sitting and learning but in jobs that require a person move around. People who can sit for long periods of time do better at desk jobs.
So, know that you are talented and gifted in some way. Now, as to learning and memory.
Since you are not here for me to assess, I will have to guess a little and offer some suggestions. The first thing I would like you to do is to take a tube and hold it up to one eye. If you don't have a tube, make one out of a piece of paper. Then when you answer this tell me which eye you used to look through the tube. Also tell me if you are right handed or left handed.
Now, you may be built to learn better while moving around. Try reading an assignment or times tables or something you would like to memorize into a tape/recorder. Then get a Walkman or other tape player with headphones and listen to it as you are walking around the block. See if you remember it better than sitting and reading.
Another way to memorize is to put on some music with a beat with no one singing, just instrumental music--not too loud and not heavy rock. Just something with a nice beat, then read to the beat and emphasize various words you need to memorize. I know this might sound a little crazy but it might work. Or, you can not have any music on but sing the words in rhythm that you want to memorize. For example you might be memorizing parts of the body. So you would start with one thing and speak it like you would in a song. My feet, my feet, have twentyseven bones--or however many your feet have. I am only using that figure for an example.
Have you ever watched Tony Robbins on TV with his positive seminars? He moves around a lot while he is teaching his seminars. He also has the type of brain that works better when he is on the move.
As to your job hopping. I would need to know what your brain is saying when you think you need to change jobs. There are several traits that could contribute to that. Perhaps you are high Adventure and you get bored or you need more of a challenge than you think. Tell me more about that and I might be able to help you. Perhaps you need a job that is more than just physical labor where you can make a difference in people's lives.
I wish I could personally work with you and I could help you a lot more. Please respond with more information. Did you get a degree in college? As to your I.Q. test; what I do is more accurate in assessing your brain capacity but I can't do it through mail I have to be there in person.
I could probably tell a lot by talking to your through telephone counseling, too, but anyway: Let me see what I can do another time or two through AllExperts.
Waiting to hear from you.

AnswerDear Kevin,
Thanks for the info. I feel very limited here with just a few letters back and forth but I will say congratulations for finishing the manuscript. I know how difficult it is to finish when you have traits that pull against each other. A little tip to help in that area. Make a to do list every day with several little things on it.
Even if you have a big project break it down into little steps like write one or two pages of a manuscript. Each time you finish what you start your cells will build in your brain that gives your body a signal that you are a finisher. Always finish little tasks. If you wash the car, state what you will do and finish what you say you will do.
Always keep your commitments to yourself and others. When you have these kinds of traits you may decide to do something in one mood and then when it comes time to do it you don't want to do it. Make yourself do it. If you tell someone you are going to the movies with them then get yourself up and out the door and go. This will also build strength in those areas of following through.
There are websites and probably books on exercises you can do to make your brain work better. You are probably built to need both physical and mental exercise so make sure you do something in sports or exercise several times a week.
I could probably really further empower you with several private sessions. If you would like to increase your quality of life then email me personalityconsultant1 (that is the number one) at yahoo.com. and I can do a free telephone evaluation and then decide if you would like to work together for a few sessions. This is how I make my living. I do a lot of consulting in person, teach classes, and also do some telephone consulting. By asking questions I can figure out your gifts and talents and then get to the bottom of your challenges and give you tools to have a better life.
Hope this helps. You may be using the wrong hand which could cause learning and creative difficulties and we could figure that out.
