I've noticed lately that the current dating scene for men and women is very sad and bleak.

As to the video ... um, one of the problems is that TV isn't reality, even reality TV isn't reality.
Seriously, if you are interested in dating to success, hook up with me for some serious coaching. You put effort and get expertise in other areas of your life, don't you? Yes, it's confusing. Very complex. Until you follow my SUCCESSFUL STRATEGIES FOR DATING. I have listened to hundreds, thousands of men and women in various stages of dating, relationships and marriage. I started out coaching women, but then men started coming to me -- after all, they figured I knew "women." I now coach men as well as women, because of the demand.
The upshot is that men AND women are equally interested in successful dating, partnerships, relationships that work, and marriage. Those who realize they must be missing something, get some coaching.
And if you think DATING is hard, wait till you try MARRIAGE, which is the purpose of it all, after all. With a near 50% divorce rate, there's a need for emotional intelligence and relationship skills, but this means that there are also a LOT of people out there looking, and you don't want to miss out on the fun.
I wouldn't call it a bleak landscape, but I think you would agree that you need a MAP OF THE TERRITORY.
