Expert: Susan Dunn, Dating Coach - 12/28/2009

Question
I went on three dates with this guy.  He initiated all of the dates.  After the first two dates he sent me text messages right away saying he had a great time.  On the third date he made me dinner and took me ice skating.  After the third date me waited almost a full week before he sent me a text message seeing how I was doing.  When I asked his opinion of a new movie that came out he told me he would go see it with me but he was busy that weekend.  During the last week I sent him a text message to tell him Merry Christmas and a couple days later I asked him about a dvd he gave me on our last date.  He didn't blow me off and chatted (via text message).  I can't tell if he is just a really nice guy who doesn't want to hurt my feelings by blowing me off or if he is actually interested in me.  He hasn't called me or asked my out on another date in two weeks.  Some people say I should call him others say I should let him be the man and do the calling. What do you think?

Dear Susan:

I'm for letting the man be the man and do the calling.  The rules of courtship are hard-wired.  

I know how hard it is to sit and wait, but I've talked with a lot of men and women about dating, since I'm a dating coach, and if the man wanted to go out on a date with you he would call you.  And I hope he will!!

For one thing, if you let him do the calling, then you'll know he's really interested in you.  Your last two contacts you did, and now you're confused.
