Question
hi i`m a 20 y.o student i have never really had a boyfriend and i`ve been out of the "dating world" for the past 3 years since i moved to the UK.i`m still a virgin and i`m quite shy and not very confident in my physic i tend to be really honest and answer any questions that guys ask me for example i often reveal that i`m a virgin straight on,i`ve always used that as a kind of shield so that they dn`t expect too much from me,but recently i feel ready to give dating a go but the guys i`ve talked to send me mixed signals i met them online we talked and we seem to be getting on quite nicely i had a date with one and the other we just talked on the fone they both said they would call me back but i haven`t heard from them in like 2 days i texted them to say hi and got no answer yet.the one i had a date with answered at first but then stopped.i dn`t knw what i`m doing wrong am i telling too much about myself too soon?

Answer
Dear Ornelia,

I definitely wouldn't lead with being a virgin. And yes, too much too soon is generally not a good idea.  You should do all the dating you can so you can learn by experience -- how to flirt, how to pace the relationship.

If they don't re-contact you, no, do not contact them.  Man are programmed to like to pursue.  Furthermore, they know how to do it, and we women do not.

I would suggest some dating coaching for you, since you are new to the game.  If you'd like dating coaching, email me at sdunn@susandunn.cc.  Then I can give you advice that is specific to YOU as the individual that you are.  It would be a great investment for you at this time, trust me on that one.

In the meantime, read up on dating and flirting online, all the free stuff, and then use the men around you to practice your skills on - whether its the guy standing in front of you in line at the store, or a neighbor or walking his dog.

There's no man on earth too "shy" or whatever to pursue when he is interested, so don't call first, don't txt after a hiatus, don't try to figure out why they aren't calling, just go on about your business.

I hope you'll get in there and practice and learn to have fun dating.

All the best,
Susan Dunn
