Question
Hi Joyce,

Basically, my subject expresses my question. I have everything in my life. I am pretty, kind, and smart. I am doing my PhD. Apart from my studies, I am involved in lots of activities such as music, sport, also doing volunteering job in hospital. I Have fallen in love to a few people in my life, that each of them wasn't that much into me. Those people were so smart and were so good at music.

Some guys were interested in me but I wasn't, and I thought that why I have to go on a date with a guy that I am not attracted to him. Now, I am 26 without even dating someone. I am afraid of getting old and not being successful of meeting the Mr. Right. I always have a dream of someone but to me there is no such a person exist in the real life.

Thanks

Answer
Melany,

I don't know how this message got lost, but I just found it. Sorry it's late, but here it is:

26 is not old. Don't worry so much about getting old - plenty of people meet a mate after their 30s. You might have a dream of someone who is not realistic, so you might need to consider that. There are no perfect men, just like there are no perfect women.

You can find someone who has similar interests, even though you are active and have tried, don't give up. Go to public places where you can meet someone who might be your type. There are now internet resources for that, too: Meetup.com has lots of interests possibilities if you live near a city. Check out religious organizations (church, temple, etc. - if you don't belong to one & you have a choice in your area, try the Belief-o-Matic test at BeliefNet.com - churches have social activities too usually), or sports or community club.

You may need to be a little bolder to get to know men that you meet. Maybe you don't get to know them well enough or let them get to know you well enough for them to know that you could be the one for them. It may take some time, but have fun getting to know some different men in the mean time.

Good luck!

- Joyce

Expertise

I've been answering questions online for over a decade & have received good ratings. I've also helped people in many other situations - in person and in other ways online. Looking for a lifelong, loving relationship? I`ve been with the same partner for 30+ years and it's not just a coincidence. I've worked at it and the first part was to find the right man for me. I hope I can help you do the same.

Experience

My own marriage has worked out great, though it has taken work, I've learned a lot and continue to learn. I realize, though, that everyone is different and so is each relationship, so I enjoy observing others. I've also read a lot about the subject and know many couples - some who have made poor partner decisions and others who've maintained a lifelong relationship of love.

Education/Credentials
I am educated as a teacher and primarily work with young people, many who are already attracted to the opposite sex at a young age, but their families often are poor role-models for having a life-long relationship.
