QUESTION: Hi,

I went on a date with a man, we are both 29, and on our first date, he looked at me and said "your parents want you to get married soon huh?" and I didn't really give him an answer. Then he said "your parents aren't going to like me" and I said "I'm sure they will" and he shook his head and said "no I don't think so, I only work for a bank, I don't have a high status job"

Hmmm....I was a little taken aback that a guy would talk like this on our first date. I mean, we had barely met three days before.

Was he hinting at something? or is this just general talk? I'm surprised he would mention this stuff on a first date?

I can't possibly know specifically what he's insecure about. YOU had the date with him - not me. You know the context in which this was said. I don't. It'd be just as effective for me to spend the next 3 hours listing every possible insecurity that people have on a sheet of paper and throwing a dart at it as for me to guess.

On the other hand, you where there! What do YOU think he's insecure about???
