Hello - I am starting to feel like something is wrong with me. I can't seem to find decent men, I am 23 and have tried pubs and clubs and internet dating. and all I can seem to attract are sleezy, men only interested in booty calls :(

I am about 5'5 high and am on the cubby side and not too bad looking, I am told that I am cute and funny and can easliy talk to many men but cant seem to fined a nice good looking guy who can hold a decent conversation. I work in health care industry and all the old men ask why i am single .... I just really try but cant find men who don't wont a booty call ...

thank you for your time :)

Answer
Renita,

Sometimes men are just horny and sex-obsessed. I think hormones have something to do with it. If you like the high-testosterone-type, then that could have something to do with it.

Tell them up front that you'd just like to make friends and get to know each other better first. If they try to make a move on you when you're not ready, tell them nicely (men do have feelings) that you're not ready and you'd like to know if they can wait. If they can't, you're done with them, but I'm sure you'll find someone who eventually will.

Some general suggestions: Look at these resources having to do with personality types; they might help you.:  http://www.keirsey.com/ and http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/ .  I also like Linda Goodman's "Love Signs;" (see http://books.google.com/books?id=1LblNr3OnOsC&lpg=PP1&dq=linda%20goodman%20love% ) though I am skeptical about astrology, I find this is surprisingly realistic (it certainly couldn't hurt to check it out). I suggest you try to get to know yourself better, too, and act as you feel, which hopefully is comfortable with who you are.  Share conversation about likes and dislikes, common interests, etc.  When you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

- Joyce

Expertise

I've been answering questions online for over a decade & have received good ratings. I've also helped people in many other situations - in person and in other ways online. Looking for a lifelong, loving relationship? I`ve been with the same partner for 30+ years and it's not just a coincidence. I've worked at it and the first part was to find the right man for me. I hope I can help you do the same.

Experience

My own marriage has worked out great, though it has taken work, I've learned a lot and continue to learn. I realize, though, that everyone is different and so is each relationship, so I enjoy observing others. I've also read a lot about the subject and know many couples - some who have made poor partner decisions and others who've maintained a lifelong relationship of love.

Education/Credentials
I am educated as a teacher and primarily work with young people, many who are already attracted to the opposite sex at a young age, but their families often are poor role-models for having a life-long relationship.
