Hi Susan,
I'm waiting until I'm married to have sex. However, I keep getting dumped. This is heartbreaking and has been going on for years, most guys do not seem to want to wait around. Or worse yet, when they realize I am a serious girl and don't give it up to every guy, they end up cheating on me and leaving me for the other woman. It really hurts and it is eroding my self-esteem. Should I keep doing what I'm doing, hoping a good guy will come along some day?

Dear Ana,

It is up to you that you not allow this to erode your self-esteem.  Glad you wrote me.  Hope you have at least one girl friend who will support you in this and tell you how attractive and desireable you are, while you wait for a good relationship - however long it takes.  It is not about YOU that they do this, and if they leave a relationship for you to have ready sex with another girl, it tells you a lot about them, yes?

However, it DOES matter how you wait.  I suspect that you could use some coaching on how to date for marriage, simply because you are puzzled by this.  Email me at sdunn@susandunn.cc if you'd like to talk about this and give me some more specifics.

General advice here is keep doing what you're doing -- WITH some modifications* -- and know that a good guy will come along some day.

*There is a way to eliminate the losers out the starting gate, and also a way to be inviting without being inviting.
