How to Attract the Man of Your Dreams/confused about how he feels

Question
I met a guy at college and we hung out and kissed a few times, and although we kept intouch usually biweekly, it was just to say hi.  We soon discovered that our families were friends and that we would be attending a wedding together.  After the wedding, we began talking daily, and even hung out, but our conversations, though flirty, could be just friendly.  He recently had his heart broken and has emphasised that he does not want a relationship in college.  I'm so confused on whether he wants to be just friends or more.  HELP!

Answer
Dear Alyssa,

When a man says he does not want to have a relationship in college, hear what he says, believe it, and save yourself some grief.  You can hang out with him, etc. but don't let your heart go.

IF he moves from this position, he will show you in his behavior and even then, check it out.  Do not initiate anything further yourself.

It is foolish to move forward with a man who states that he does not want a relationship.  He means it, and the tricky part is that he could go ahead and get involved with you if YOU escalated it, but since he "told you" , he doesn't have to be responsible for any of it.  He can "use you" and then come back and say "I told you I didn't want a relationship." It happens.

You're confused because he doesn't know what he wants, so keep it where it is if you're enjoying his company.  Don't get your hopes up and don't start reading things into things.

Look for a boyfriend elsewhere.
