Ok susan, I really need some help. I really like this guy. his names Greg. I've talked to him a couple of times, but I really never knew what to say. Im sort of the shy type of gal. Anyway, I kinda broke the ice on MYSPACE. I kno, thats totally not cool, but i had to do it somehow! well, We kinda talk. But I just get so super nervous! I really wanna take things slow, but I just want to talk to him without being so nervous! please help!

Wow!  You must like him a lot.  Nervous is kind of excited, look at it that way.  So ... do what we call self-soothe.  This means just some things you can do.  Breathe deeply.  Get up and get some exercise before you talk to him and work the nerves off.  Put a little mirror, like makeup on your computer so you can see yourself, it's kind of stabilizing.  Think positive thoughts - self-talk.  Observe your thoughts, what you're saying to yourself, like "I'm so nervous."  Start training yourself to say "I'm very calm.  I can handle this.  This is easy."

But that "that was easy" button from Office Depot (I think) and put it by the computer, and AFTER you talk to him (even if you get nervous), push the button.  It will say "That was easy."  It works!  I've had other clients use it and they say it works.  It trains you to think of it as EASY.  (And that button has a LOT of uses.)  It's your self-talk that drives your feelings.
