Question
what do you as a female think of a guy who is shy and has a real hard time starting a conversation.

Answer
Hey Chris,

Don't worry at all! Almost everyone is shy around the person they like!

First of all, are you just shy around pretty girls, or do you have social anxiety disorder in general? Because if that's the case, you should talk to someone about that. Maybe if you joined a group or something to help social anxiety, it would help you.

Ok first of all - relax! Everyone gets shy! So what you do, think of all your positive qualities. You have to have some. What career goals do you have? Think of ways to fulfill them so you can find happiness in that. Are you doing well in school? Do you have a good job?

Do you have good friends and family? You need to have a strong support system.

Next step, always make sure you look presentable. When you go to school or work, always make sure you look good and give a professional appearance. Look in your closet and look through your clothes. If you need to, go to the mall or a men's store and invest in some nice jeans, khakhis, chinos, t shirts, full sleeve shirts, sweaters, jackets, ties etc.

I'm not saying spend a fortune on armani suits, I'm just saying you need decent clothes to look PRESENTABLE.

Also look at yourself in the mirror. Do you need a nice haircut? Or style or color? Get yourself to a salon if you need a haircut and ask someone experienced how to get a haircut or style or color that makes you look good. Once again, don't spend a fortune.

Here's another thing: NO BODY ODOR OR SWEATY ARMPITS! People laugh but this instantly repels women. Make sure you shower daily and use a little bit of cologne if you need to. Not overpowering scents, but if you sweat a lot, you should use a little.

On top of that, you need to eat healthy, and you really need to exercise.

Why am I saying this stuff? Women don't want a man to necessarily look like a plastic Ken doll. We just want a guy to take home to Mom and Dad who is PRESENTABLE. If you look good, you'll feel good, and have more confidence.

Next, now that you look good, do you have any female friends you could maybe hang out with? Start hanging out with them just as buddies so you learn how to talk to girls without freaking out.

You next step is now to slowly start going out and getting more social. Talk to people. Be a fun, upbeat kind of guy (but not annoyingly upbeat) make sure you are the kind of guy that all your guy friends will want to hang out with.

You need to find clubs or activities that interest you and join them.

Get a group of friends and go out to nice restaurants, bars, and clubs. Go to music concerts. Go to movies. Go to the mall and go to the shops you like and just browse stuff. Go to random stores. Talk to people.

Now when you are standing next to a woman that interests you, even in line at the grocery store, wherever...strike up a conversation! Don't be a creepy guy, just be NORMAL. If she seems cool, give her your number and take hers.

Dating is just a numbers game! You will need to try this with perhaps many ladies before you find the right one!

So don't sweat it. It will all work out. Hope this helps.

Take care sweetie :)
