I just had a pretty general question.  How do I go about asking for someones number who is basically a stranger when just passing them by? (say just walking around campus) Now I have met this girl.  I met her briefly about 6 months ago and I doubt she remembers my name.  So how could I possibly get her number the next time I see her around campus?

Hello Ben!

In fact, this is actually incredibly easy. You can even get digits from someone you pass on the street that you've never even met before. I've done this many times myself.

With this girl, you already have context. She'll recognize your face even if she doesn't remember your name. If she tries to play it off, ("I'm sorry, I don't remember you...") you can even feign hurt and use that little bit of guilt to get her digits.

The very next time you see her, just get in her way so that she has to acknowledge her. Say, "Hi [her-name]. Long time!" Then, just get the conversation going with some small-talk. The point here is to build some rapport and connection. This shouldn't take any more than about 3-5 minutes because you don't want her using the fact she has to be somewhere as an excuse to end the conversation early.

Instead, YOU want to end it early. When things feel like they're really going well, just say, "Well, I need to get going, but it was fun talking to you. Here, give me your digits and I'll call you sometime to get together so we can catch up."
