Hmmmm, I know this is a few months after the fact, but I'm wondering if Audi covered anything in this case. My friend has a 2001 A4 1.8 Cabriolet that seized up and died on I-95 in S. Carolina. Sure enough it was oil sludge...wanted $11,000 for a new engine.  My friend said "I'm covered under my warranty." He did present all his receipts for service maintenance done at AUDI...DENIED!   Unbelievable...needless to say he's in the process of filing a lawsuit. Apparently most people are screwed at least with Audi, when it comes to oil sludge. They will pass the blame onto you!
