Question
Last week, when parking the car, I turned off the radio using the volume knob.  My wife was the next to drive and tried turning it back on.  It was dead. There is no clock display, nothing. I was hoping it was a simple fuse problem (Yeah, right!). I hadn't had time to check out the fuse so I just drove it the way it was, with the volume knob turned off and no clock display. Yesterday, when driving home, I smelled what seemed like something electrical heating up.  When I got home I bent over and smelled the radio and it was stinking!  I removed the screws holding the radio in the dash. I was able to get a good whiff of the smell then. I started pulling the radio out and it stopped about 1/3 of the way out.  Something in the back was holdiong it in. I removed the heater control unit and could see the ground strap was tight. Using a small mirror I can see the ground strap attached to the back of the stereo. I don't think I can reach it with a wrench/socket. It's too tight back there.  I tried finding the other end of the ground strap and it disappears down below the heater control unit. I cannot see where it goes.  How can I get this unit out of the dash w/o cutting the ground strap? Thanks.

Answer
i use a small wrench and try and 20 minutes later and a few dents in my hand and arm the radio was out

NOW  i just pull the radio out very card and it comes out with that piece attach to the back of the radio and i can remove that later
try good luck
