Question
I know that you said that you probably would not be able to help with an aftermarket stero installation but I thought it might be worth a shot. I've replaced the factory head unit with a 2005 Alpine head unit. I purchased the wireharness that pluged directly into the BMW original wiring and onto the wiring for the Alpine unit. The new head unit powers on however the CD player is not getting any sound. The radio gives a static sound (due to the fact that its not plugged in to the antenna yet b/c I have yet to purchase the adapter for that). Do you know why the CD player might not be playing and the radio is?

yes i seen this problem many times

there is a factory amplifier in the trunk of your vehicle
this amplifier turn on with the blue wire from the alpine radio the problem is that the blue wire you are using is for the electric antenna and it only sends power when the am/fm tuner are on, when the cd is playing it lowers the electric antenna there is no need for it  look at the radio plus and look for the blue wire for the amplifier turn on remote not the electric antenna
