Question
I HAVE A 1996 PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER FACTORY AM-FM CASSETTE PLAYER. MY PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I PLACE A CASSETTE INSIDE OF THE PLAYER THE TAPE PLAYS FOR A SECOND OR TWO THEN REVERSES, THEN PLAYS AGAIN THEN REVERSES AND THEN EJECTS.

IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN REPAIR THIS PROBLEM ON MY OWN. OR GO TO A WEBSITE THAT CAN HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM.

THANX A BUNCH

DON.

Answer
the reel drive mechanisim is slipping, making the machine think it's at the end of the tape. it will take almost complete disassembly of stereo, then you have to get to the tape mechanisim, and unless you're quite experienced in tape decks, don't do it at all. less headache to replace it completely. crutchfield.com will tell you exactly what fits your car........
