Question
MY CAR IS MONTERO SPORT 2002 MODEL, THE CD PLAYER HAS ANTI THEFT DETECTOR WITH A CODE NUMBER BUT MY MECHANIC TAMPERED WITH THE CDPLAYER FOR MORE THAN THRICE SO THE CD NO LONGER ACCEPTS THE CODE AND SINCE THEN I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PLAY IT. WHAT DO I DO TO MAKE IT FUNCTION AGAIN AS THE MECHANICS AROUND MY AREA ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE SOLUTION?

Answer
Probably needs reset.  Most units with anti-theft code systems will lock out after 2 or 3 erroneous attempts.  If that is what happened you will likely get it back up after a hard reset.  This is done by removing total power from the radio.  There are two ways of doing this: ONE, pull the 12v lines off the back of the radio where the wiring goes to the unit, or, TWO, pull one of the cables off the battery (which will kill the entire electrical system of the car).  Number TWO is the easiest to do, but requires the clock or any other items that are powered from the car electrical system to be reset.

Hope this helps.
