I found this solution with a google search:

Q:  How do you bypass the emergency brake on your phase linear UV7i installation to watch movies while driving?
In: Car Electronics Electrics and Lights

A:   Well you can run the pink wire to the fuse box then add a switch.....When prompt to do so turn switch on for five seconds......Then turn it back off.....Then turn back on and leave on....TV will come on in 1-2 seconds.
---------

Here is another solution I found by googling:

------------
Really you dont have to hook up the pink wire. There is a bypass sequence already installed in the system to over ride the e brake...You have to put a dvd in.. Once the screen comes up that says you cant play this disc and engage e brake bla bla bla..Push down on the right stick twice...then push it in..a screen will come up saying E brake bypass on...then turn off your system and turn it back on and your good to go..
------------

And, of course, keep in mind it is illegal to have it running while the car is in motion (in the front seat).

The object of it all is to keep power going to the video player independent of the brake, transmission settings.  One way to do it is to run power wires directly to the dvd player - bypassing all the car internal stuff. Best way is to enter the hidden code area to recode the priority logic.  See the utubes below.

Let me know how that goes; more questions, just ask.
