I have a samgsung hdtv 50 inch and a techniques suround sound reciever and a ps3, ps3 is connected to tv with hdmi cables and optical and suround sound is connected to tv  with older rca cables suround sound works with satelite and xbox but not with ps3 and i dont know why ss receiever doesnt have hdmi hook up or optical so what do i do???

If I'm reading this correctly, the PS3 is not hooked up directly to the receiver.

Without an optical or HDMI hookup on the receiver, you may be out of luck. If you have an available coaxial digital input (RCA) on the receiver, you could try an optical to coaxial digital audio converter box. I'm sure there are many places to find these, but I know for sure that www.markertek.com has them.

Another remote possibility is that there is a digital output on your TV that you could send to the receiver if there's an available input for it.
