Question
I've recently bought a Philips audio player with mp3 USB input and couldn't seem to play music stored on my mp3 player. The mp3 is also a Philips brand. When I plug it into the USB port, only the battery bar of the mp3 player seems to be charging and no music came off the audio player. Please assist me on this.

Answer
Well, there are many restrictions on use of usb players.  Please study the instruction manual, page 33, for use of mass storage devices.  You can download the manual, if yours is not handy, at:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/m/mcd710_98/mcd710_98_dfu_aen.pdf

There you will find that certain music from players may not play through due to copyright restrictions, etc.

Maybe that is what you are encountering.  If the music on your mp3 player was downloaded from a pay site the record code is probably not allowing the player to transfer it to another device.

Your manual says this:

Notes:
– In some USB flash players (or memory devices),
the stored contents are recorded using copyright
protection technology. Such protected contents will
be unplayable on any other devices (such as this
Hi-Fi system).

Let me know if there is more to the story.
