Question
I have an Onkyo TX-DS484 home audio receiver.  Just the other day I could not get any sound to come out.  The only mode that will produce sound in Tuner in Stereo mode.  As soon as I switch to another mode (even test tone mode) I get no sound.  Will a hard reset fix this?  It sure sounds like something internal as it was working fine earlier this week.  I am just hoping I am not in need of a new receiver.

I'd say try the reset first. Have you looked for any Onkyo support forums? it can take some patience and serious digging, but those forums are a wealth of "real world" troubleshooting.
