Audio Systems/audio signal

Question
Hi. I have a Samsung LCD HDTV and a Motorola DVR for my digital cable from
Comcast. For the video signal, I have an HDMI cable running from the TV to a
through a HCMI/DVI adapter into the cable box. For the audio, I have a digital
optical cable running from the TV to the cable box. Those are the only
components. I am getting no audio. Is there something in the setup I'm missing?

Answer
Check both setup menus on the gear for an optical input setting (audio setup menus). Also - if you have a coaxial digital audio cable option, I'd recommend using that instead of optical. Since it is identical digital information, it will sound exactly the same, and it is also a much more robust cable. Usually, any RCA cable will work, but you can get one @ www.bluejeanscable.com for less than retail.
I've been hearing many complaints about optical issues with the Comcast boxes, so you are not alone in this.

Let me know if this helps!
