Audio Systems/1999 Toyota Solara - tape deck ejecting when engine turned on

Question
I have the original radio that came in my car - model #16820.
I have been using the tape deck to play my satellite radio for the last 2 years. Suddenly, in the last month, about 1/2 the time I turn the engine on, it ejects the tape.

Answer
This is probably a result of the ignition switch contacts being slightly worn.  When the ignition key is turned the contact for the radio unit may have a short interruption as it passes through the contact range; that voltage bump to the radio unit initiates the eject pulse to the tape player.

Try this: Before shutting off the engine, turn off the radio.  Then, when you come back to turn on the engine see if this overcomes the problem.

Also try: When turning on the ignition try different pressure angles with your hand and the key as that may make a difference with respect to the internal switch contacts of the radio voltage line.

QUESTION: When the cassette is ejected does the radio return to sat radio?

Let me know if you need more ideas.
