Question
I recently purchased a replacement system for my truck.  I bought all Alpine equipment at the large electronics store.  The model numbers are radio CDA-9886, 6 x 9's SPS-609, 5 1/4's SPS-500 and amp MRP-F300.  The problem is that it does not sound like what I expected.  I hear distortion from the rear 5 1/4's and from the front factory tweeters when I listen to the music loud.  I called Alpine and the service tec told me how to adjust the gain and crossover from the amp.  Did that and it sounds a little better but still distorts.

Whats the problem - are the speakers not able to handle the power - do the factory tweeters need to be turned off somehow - or do I need to just get my money back and start over somewhere else.

Thank you

Answer
It is way underpowered.  You need more power.  Much more.

There is an easy solution:  Bridge this amp and power the big speakers.  Then add another amplifier to drive the smaller ones.

And, you can enhance the sound dramatically by adding a subwoofer system.

Best to you!  And Good Luck.
