Audio Systems/Stereo Receiver

Question
i have the avr 1010 model and the protection light is stuck

Answer
The protection system is activated whenever there is an excessive load on the power supply OR when the power supply malfunctions.

The most common cause is shorted speaker wires or shorted voice coil in one of the speakers.  And, of course, there could be a failure inside the receiver itself.

Try a reset.  Unplug the power cord for 30 minutes.  Disconnect all the speaker wires at the back of the amplifier.  Then after the 30 minutes plug the power cord in, turn the unit on and see if the protection clears.

IF:  Protection light comes back on the problem is internal to the receiver.  Most likely is failure of the output power transistors in one  or more of the audio power channels.  This would require replacement of those transistors at an audio service shop.

IF: The light goes out, try connecting one speaker wire at a time with some music going through the system.  If one of the speakers cause the light to come back on it may be a defective speaker/wire, such as, a shorted voice coil or wire leading to that speaker.

Hope this helps.
