Question
Hello, I have a TEAC ag v8525 audio receiver which
periodically flashes "protect" and stops working. This
problem occurs when the volume of the input source is
too high, for example when my ipod volume is past
halfway and the music will play for a second and the
receiver will flash protect.  If the input source volume is
low, I can turn the receiver's volume up without causing
this problem.  What can I do to fix this?  I would really
like to try to do it myself to save some money.

You can't fix it.  It's doing what it was intended to do.  Sonically you don't want to blast the input volume.  You're creating distortion.  Let the receiver handle the volume.  The receivers pre-amps will handle the job a lot better than the 32cent headphone amp in your ipod.  And using your headphone amp as a line level input is a whole nother topic all together.
