Question Ernesto, In the past week, I am getting a rattling of my subwoofer. This has never happened before. I normally do not play it too loud but have had the car since 2002. Does this sound like the speaker is blown? If yes, do I have to replace it with the lexus $525 speaker plus installation? I want to keep the integrity of the system. My son says we can put most any quality speaker in that matches the ohms. Also, I think you need to take the rear seat and deck out to get to this? Is that true too? Any help or suggestions would be helpful.
Jon
Answer your son is correct, you don't need the factory woofer
but you need one with the same specs , the old speaker needs to be remove and test before it burns
the speaker is going to be 1.5 ohms to 2.0 oms test it with a meter and install the same ohms woofer
also the speaker needs to be FREE AIR because there is no enclosure for it
Pioneer, Kicker, Kenwood, Jbl, Jl audio are some of the brands that still make them
if you install a 4 or 8 ohm woofer the volume will be very low
if you install a 1 ohm woofer you will burn the lexus amplifier
